What Will You Find Here?

About Suitcases & Sunshine

Welcome to Suitcases & Sunshine! I’m glad you’re here, and I hope something you see sparks an idea for your next trip. Traveling, whether it’s discovering somewhere brand new or returning to a place I’ve come to love, never gets old for me. There’s something deeply fulfilling about the planning, the anticipation, and the experiences along the way. With my husband and favorite travel companion, Mike, I’m always on the lookout for hidden gems and meaningful return visits to the places that keep calling us back.

I’m Sarah, travel planner, leisure travel specialist, and someone who believes that every great trip starts with a little inspiration and the right plan! Whether you’re picturing a fun-filled family vacation, a quiet couples’ retreat, or a much-needed girls’ getaway, I’m here to help make it all come together seamlessly. I will take care of all the details so you can enjoy every second of your trip without any worries.

As your dedicated travel planner, I will craft your dream vacation with the same care, passion, and attention to detail as I would if it were my own trip!

I will only recommend hotels, cruises, and tours I’d feel confident booking for myself or my own family, because your comfort, experience, and satisfaction are my top priorities.

When available, I will compare pricing across trusted vendors to ensure you get the best value without compromising on quality.

I will take the time to thoroughly research your destination, uncovering must-see sights, unforgettable experiences, and top-rated dining so your vacation is not just great, but truly exceptional.

How Does Planning a Trip With Suitcases & Sunshine Work?

Step One:

Introduction – Complete my Travel Intake Form (“Start Your Travel Journey” link below) so we can get acquainted and start working on building your dream trip!

Step Two:

Consultation – This is a joint brainstorming session where I learn about your travel style, what’s on your bucket list, and what budget you’d like to stay within. This can be face-to-face, via Zoom meeting, through email, or by text.

Step Three:

Proposal – I will email you an invoice to securely collect any applicable planning fees. Then, based on what I learned about you during our consultation, I will research and present you with a few travel package options to give you an idea of what is available within your budget.

Step Four:

Create – With your input, I will design your dream itinerary based on your vision and budget. To keep things stress-free for you, I will take care of any aspects of the trip that you would like help with, from booking your flights, hotels, transfers, and tours, to making recommendations for dining and sightseeing in your travel destination.

Step Five:

Support – I will make sure you know what to pack and have all the necessary travel documentation and will be available to help smooth any hiccups you may encounter as you travel.

  • Universal Studios Epic Universe
Super Nintendo World

In the portal, you ride an escalator up through a green pipe. As you go up, you hear the Pipe Warp sound periodically!
As soon as you get through the portal, there is immediate sensory overload! It was a lot to take in, but it made my 80s child heart a little giddy! The music is loud, the colors are bright and vibrant, Goombas and Piranha Plants are everywhere, and coins are spinning.
There are interactive experiences all over. You can purchase a Power-up Band and punch coin boxes to collect points. There are other games around the land to play with your band, and it all links to your profile in the Universal app so you can keep track of your score!
There are three rides in Super Nintendo World. Mario Cart: Bowser's Challenge is a virtual reality ride. You wear a visor with special glasses, and as you ride, you shoot Goombas, Koopa Troopas, and other enemies that appear in your path. I thought the concept for this ride was neat, but the execution could use a tweak. The visor and glasses were heavy, so they were slipping down my face as I was trying to play.
Yoshi's Adventure is a very slow, short ride. You'll see Yoshi and friends as you ride around at the top of Super Nintendo World. The goal while you ride is to collect three colored eggs as you see them. This is a cute ride for young children, but I wouldn't wait in this line if it were more than about 15 minutes.
In Mine Cart Madness, there are lots of twists and turns, and sections where it looks like the car jumps the track. For those over 40, beware that this ride will jerk you around quite a bit!
For a snack, Mike wanted to try Bowser's Fireball Challenge at Toadstool's Cafe. It's a one-pound meatball covered in mozzarella cheese and marinara sauce, and comes with a roll shaped like Bowser's head. The "challenge" is that it comes with hot sauce to pour over the meatball. That made it way too hot for my taste, but Mike liked it. We also ordered a Super-Star Lemon Squash. It was tart and refreshing with tropical boba at the bottom, as well as some mango stars.
