A Week at Universal’s Endless Summer Resort: Surfside Inn and Suites — My Honest Review

If you’re looking for a hotel in Orlando that feels like a breath of fresh, beachy air and won’t blow your entire vacation budget, Universal’s Endless Summer Resort: Surfside Inn and Suites might be your new go-to. I recently spent a full week here, and today I’m sharing all the details; what I loved, what surprised me, and who I think this resort is perfect for.

First Impressions: Light, Airy, and Laid-Back

The vibe at Surfside is instantly calming. After a day of airports and roller bags, stepping into the bright, open lobby, with its breezy coastal design, pops of turquoise and coral, and huge windows, felt like a welcome exhale. It’s not flashy or fancy, but it doesn’t try to be. It’s warm, casual, and inviting, with just enough polish to make it feel like a resort, not just a hotel.

The staff was friendly and accommodating from the moment we arrived. Since our room wasn’t quite ready, bell services happily stored our bags so we could head straight out and start our day.

What You’ll Find Around the Lobby

Surfside’s layout is smart and convenient. Everything you need is just steps away from the check-in desk! Here’s what stood out:

  • Starbucks for your pre-park caffeine fix (or your mid-afternoon “how am I still walking?” pick-me-up).
  • Beach Break Café, a cafeteria-style spot serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There’s a mix of hot meals, made-to-order options, and grab-and-go conveniences.
  • Universal Studios Store stocked with park merch, snacks, and those toiletry items you forgot to pack.
  • Arcade, which is always a big hit for kids, teens, and… well, my husband.
  • Fitness Center, compact but clean, with treadmills, ellipticals, and free weights.
  • Laundry Rooms on multiple floors, with coin- or app-operated machines. I didn’t plan to use them, but was very grateful for them when our trip got extended by three days due to Hurricane Helene!
  • The Pool, the star of the show. It’s shaped like a giant surfboard, lined with palm trees, and has more than enough loungers. There’s a poolside bar (the Sand Bar), towels are provided, and there are lifeguards on duty during regular pool hours.

Our Family Suite: Spacious and Functional

Even thought it was just me and my husband, we stayed in a two-bedroom family suite on the 5th floor. It overlooked a serene little lake where we watched pelicans dive for fish in the afternoons. The view was an unexpected bonus!

Inside the suite, the layout worked beautifully for us, and would be perfect for a larger group or family, as well.

  • Main sleeping area: Two queen beds, drawers for storage, and a flat-screen TV.
  • Private bedroom: One queen bed, TV, a closet, and a safe.
  • Kitchenette: Mini-fridge, sink, microwave, coffee maker, and a table that seats 4–5.
  • Bathroom: Double vanity outside the toilet/shower area so more than one person can get ready at once.

Everything felt clean, bright, and thoughtfully designed. The quality far exceeded what I expected for a “value” resort.

Getting Around: Simple and Stress-Free

One of the biggest perks of staying at Surfside is the free, frequent shuttle service to Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, and CityWalk. We never waited more than 10–15 minutes, even at peak times. Drop-off is near the security checkpoint, so you skip a ton of walking.

Though we were focused on Universal for this trip, we did make a quick visit to Disney, as well. It was easy to grab an Uber from Surfside Inn & Suites to visit any of the Disney World theme parks or resorts.

Weathering a Hurricane

We originally planned for a four-night stay, but Hurricane Helene had other plans. We ended up staying three extra nights due to flight cancellations. I can’t say enough about how calmly and efficiently the staff handled everything. They kept us updated, helped extend our stay without any issues, and made sure everyone was as comfortable as possible. Having laundry, onsite dining, and plenty of space in our suite turned what could’ve been a disaster into an oddly cozy bonus adventure.

Final Thoughts

Would I stay at Surfside again? Without hesitation.

Surfside is perfect if you want:

  • A relaxed, beachy vibe without a deluxe price tag
  • Clean, spacious suites with real room to spread out
  • Easy, free transportation to Universal Orlando
  • A location close to everything but just outside the chaos

It’s great for families, friend groups, and even couples who want something simple but still special. While it’s certainly great for families watching their budget, it doesn’t feel “budget” in the way that some hotels do. The resort has personality, convenience, and comfort—three things that matter a lot to me when I’m choosing where to stay.
