Port St. Joe: Beachfront Bliss on Florida’s Forgotten Coast

I’m writing this from the deck of Coastal Cove, a gorgeous beach house in Port St. Joe, Florida, overlooking the ocean, salt air in my hair, and nothing but soft sand between me and the Gulf of Mexico. If you’ve been craving a quiet escape that still gives you plenty to do, this stretch of Florida’s Forgotten Coast is pure magic.

Roomy, Relaxed, and Right on the Sand

Coastal Cove is exactly what I picture when I think “beach house.” The house itself feels like the kind of place you never want to leave. Floor-to-ceiling windows face the water for breathtaking views all day long. The main floor is wide open, so the kitchen, dining, and living areas all flow together. There’s a roomy living area with a gas fireplace, squishy couches with plenty of cozy blankets, and a Smart TV with WiFi access for movie nights.

The kitchen is stocked for actual cooking, not just vacation toast: sharp knives, big pots for a shrimp boil, and a blender for frozen drinks. There’s a big farmhouse table where we spread out our seafood feasts and gathered for late-night board games.

Upstairs are three peaceful bedrooms, each with its own full bathroom. There is plenty of hot water, fluffy towels, and even those little hotel-style toiletries you always forget to pack. The beds are plush with crisp white linens and extra pillows, and the ceiling fans ensure the rooms are the perfect temperature for a good night’s sleep. There is also an additional bunk room on the main floor for even more sleeping space.

As beautiful as the house is inside, outside is my favorite part. A three-level deck with two screened-in areas for sunrise coffee or an afternoon nap, an outdoor shower to rinse off sandy feet, a grill for sunset dinners, and direct boardwalk access to the beach. And don’t forget the sparkling inground pool. It is the perfect spot to cool off after a day in the hot Florida sun!
